What's New in SaleSprint

Every release, in plain language. What shipped, what got faster, and what we fixed — written for the people running the shop, not for the commit history.

  1. v1.0.0

Document Flow, the owner dashboard, and 1.0 across every platform.

The 1.0 release is about seeing the whole picture. Every document now shows what it created and what it came from, the owner summary puts the day on one screen, and the same build ships to Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS and the browser on the same day.

    New
    • Document Flow on every document

Open a sale and see the delivery, the return and the journal entries it produced — drawn as a graph you can click through. Wired across roughly 37 document types, in both directions.

    • Owner and executive summary dashboard

One screen for the people who sign the cheques: revenue, margin, cash position, stock value and the approvals holding things up, across every location.

    • Automatic updates on every platform

Desktop, mobile and web all update through their own native mechanism, so staff stop running last quarter's build without knowing it.

    Improved
    • Outbox drains faster after a long offline stretch

Queued work now uploads in batches rather than one document at a time. A till that spent a day offline catches up in seconds instead of minutes.

    • Audit trail records the location, not just the user

Every mutating action now carries the branch and till it came from, which makes multi-location investigations a filter rather than a hunt.

    Fixed
    • Dashboard date range ignored the location filter

Switching to a single branch kept the chart totals company-wide until the page was reloaded. The filters now apply together.

    • Thermal receipts clipped long customer names

Names past the paper width were truncated instead of wrapping on 58mm rolls.

  2. v0.9.4

Loyalty points you can spend at the till, and a discount engine the server decides.

Loyalty stopped being a number on a profile. Points are earned on a sale and redeemed at checkout as a real tender, with the liability posted to the ledger per tender type so finance can see what the programme actually costs.

    New
    • Points as a tender at checkout

Customers earn on every sale and redeem at the till alongside cash, mobile money and card. Gift cards and vouchers work the same way, in any combination.

    • FIFO point expiry

Points expire oldest-first on a schedule you set, and the balance shown at the till is always the balance that can actually be spent today.

    • Referral rewards at the counter

A cashier can attach a referring customer during checkout; the reward posts to both accounts without anyone filling in a form afterwards.

    • Auto-discount rule engine

Discount rules are evaluated on the server, so the price a cashier sees is the price the ledger records. Coupons apply through the same path, with guardrails against stacking past your floor price.

    Improved
    • Per-tender liability posting

Points, gift cards and vouchers each post to their own liability account instead of a shared bucket, so the balance sheet separates what you owe from what you have been paid.

    Fixed
    • A voided sale did not always return redeemed points

Voiding a sale paid partly with points reversed the cash leg but occasionally left the points spent. Reversal now covers every tender on the sale.

    • Gift card balance could be read twice under load

Two tills redeeming the same card at the same moment could both see the opening balance. Balance reads are now locked for the length of the redemption.

  3. v0.9.0

91 reports, 9 finance statements and 16 live dashboards.

The biggest reporting release we have shipped. Sales, purchasing, stock, products and manufacturing each got a full report set, finance got the statements an accountant asks for by name, and every one of them exports to Excel and PDF.

    New
    • 91 operational reports

15 for sales, 15 for purchasing, 14 for stock, 25 for products and 13 for manufacturing — each filterable by date, location and the dimensions that matter to that area.

    • 9 finance reports

Trial balance, profit and loss, balance sheet, AR and AP aging, and cash position — read from the same ledger every document posts to, so nothing needs reconciling first.

    • Excel and PDF export everywhere

Every report exports in both formats, laid out to be printed or handed to an accountant rather than dumped as raw columns.

    • 16 dashboards with live charts

Per-area dashboards for sales, stock, purchasing, finance and manufacturing, fed by the same data as the reports behind them.

    Improved
    • Reports load a page at a time

Large date ranges no longer wait for the whole result set before showing anything — the first page renders while the rest streams in.

    Fixed
    • A partial goods receipt could leave the remaining quantity out of the open-PO report

Receiving part of a line closed it for reporting purposes even though the balance was still outstanding. The open quantity is now computed from the line, not the document status.

    • Exported PDFs used the browser locale for dates

A report exported from a French session could print English month names. Exports now follow the session language throughout.

  4. v0.8.5

Purpose-built POS for restaurants, salons, pharmacies, hotels and rental.

A generic till slows down a kitchen and is useless to a dispensary. This release gave each trade its own checkout screen, built on the same sale engine so the accounting, stock and reporting stay identical underneath.

    New
    • Restaurant POS

Kitchen display, course firing and split tickets, so the pass sees what it needs when it needs it and a table of six pays six ways.

    • Salon POS

Appointment book by stylist, with commission calculated on the service and the retail attached to it.

    • Pharmacy POS

Prescription capture at the counter and a controlled-substance register that fills itself as you dispense.

    • Hotel and rental checkouts

Guest folios with night audit, and rental agreements with periods and deposits tracked through to return.

    Improved
    • Vertical screens share one cart

Every specialised POS runs on the same cart, tender and receipt code as the core till, so a fix in one lands in all of them.

    • Receipt printing for A4 and thermal

Four layouts, barcodes and QR codes, and a per-device preference so the office printer and the counter roll can behave differently.

    Fixed
    • Split tickets rounded tax on the wrong total

Splitting a ticket recalculated tax per slice instead of apportioning the ticket tax, which could leave a few pesewas unaccounted for.

    • Appointment slots drifted across a timezone change

Bookings made before a device timezone change displayed an hour out. Slots are now stored and rendered against the location's timezone.

  5. v0.8.0

Manufacturing: BOMs, work orders, shop-floor routing and true cost roll-up.

For everyone who makes what they sell. Define the recipe, raise the work order, route it through the floor, and see the finished item costed from the material and labour that actually went into it — not an estimate typed in afterwards.

    New
    • Bills of materials and work orders

Multi-level BOMs with revisions, and work orders that consume components and receive finished goods against real stock.

    • Shop-floor routing

Operations sequenced across work centres, with progress recorded at each step rather than only at the end.

    • Subcontracting

Issue material to an outside processor, track what is out there, and receive it back as a costed component.

    • Cost roll-up and 13 manufacturing reports

Finished-goods cost rolled up from material, labour and overhead, with WIP, yield, scrap and work-centre load reports on top.

    Improved
    • Production posts straight to the ledger

Material issue, WIP and finished-goods receipt each post their own journal entries, so the cost of production shows up in the accounts without a month-end exercise.

    Fixed
    • Closing a work order short left component reservations held

Components reserved for the unbuilt remainder stayed allocated and did not show as available. Closing short now releases them.

  6. v0.7.2

Purchasing end to end, and one approvals engine across the business.

Eight purchasing documents, from the requisition a supervisor raises to the landed cost that lands on the stock layer, each posting to stock and the ledger as it goes. The approvals engine that gates them is the same one now wired into every other document type.

    New
    • Eight purchasing document types

Requisitions, RFQs, purchase orders, goods receipts, returns, blanket orders, drop-ship and landed cost — each linked to the ones before and after it.

    • Landed cost on the receipt layer

Freight, duty and handling allocate onto the received quantities, so your margin reflects what the goods actually cost to get onto the shelf.

    • One approvals engine, 16+ document types

Value thresholds, routing to the right approver, reminders when something sits too long, and a bottleneck dashboard showing exactly where the queue is.

    Improved
    • Receipts can be posted against a partially approved order

Lines that cleared approval can be received while the rest is still in the queue, instead of holding the whole delivery at the gate.

    • Import and export for supplier and product data

Spreadsheet import with validation before anything is written, and an export that round-trips back in cleanly.

    Fixed
    • A cancelled purchase order still counted toward incoming stock

Cancelled orders were excluded from the PO list but still inflated expected quantities in reorder suggestions.

    • Approval reminders repeated after delegation

Reassigning an approval to a colleague kept the original reminder schedule running alongside the new one.

  7. v0.7.0

The foundation: offline-first on six platforms, messaging, and the storefront.

The release everything since is built on. One app across Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS and the web, selling whether or not the internet is up, with permissions, an audit trail and multi-location from day one.

    New
    • Offline-first selling

A local database plus an outbox that drains the moment you reconnect. Staff keep selling through an outage and nothing is retyped afterwards.

    • One app, six platforms

The same SaleSprint on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS and in the browser — same screens, same data, no second system to learn.

    • WhatsApp, SMS and email notifications

Receipts, order updates and alerts sent from a shared, versioned template catalog in English and French, plus push notifications to the apps.

    • Storefront on the same catalog

An online store reading the same products, prices and stock as the till, so an online sale and a counter sale draw down the same shelf.

    • Permissions, audit and multi-location

Role-based permissions that can be scoped to a location, an audit entry on every mutating action, and branches that roll up without a separate install each.

    Improved
    • White-label branding

Your logo, colours and details across the app, receipts and exported documents.

    Fixed
    • Reconnecting on a weak signal could retry a sale twice

A sale uploaded just as the connection dropped could be sent again on the next drain. Every queued document now carries a key the server uses to ignore repeats.
